Moving Forward: Renewing Plaid for Wales

“Upcoming conference to play important part in developing the party for the future” – Dr Eurfyl ap Gwilym

Moving Forward: Renewing Plaid for Wales – the process to develop Plaid Cymru for the future will take another step forward this weekend as party members gather in Llandudno for the 2011 annual conference.

Earlier this summer it was announced that the party would undertake a comprehensive review, looking at all aspects of the party in order to renew for the future.

Dr Eurfyl ap Gwilym, who is leading the team of six who are undertaking this process (Jill Evans MEP, Elfyn Llwyd MP, Jocelyn Davies AM, Dr Dafydd Trystan, Llyr Hughes Griffiths AM), says that the coming conference will provide a great opportunity to engage with the hundreds of grassroots members attending and to get their views and ideas on how they want to see Plaid move forward.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Dr Eurfyl ap Gwilym said:

“This conference will play an extremely important part in developing our party for the future.

“With the work already underway, my colleagues and I are looking forward to a busy and productive weekend where we will discuss and share ideas with the hundreds of grassroots members who will be attending over the three-day event.

“It will be one of many opportunities over the coming months to engage with people both inside and outside the party.

“This renewal process provides us with a golden opportunity, not only to ensure that the people of Wales continue to have a party advancing the interests of our nation, but also to renew and re-energise our party so that we are properly equipped for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

“Of course, we will in the meantime continue to be focussed on our work of putting the interests of Wales and our communities first at all levels of government. In the Assembly, Plaid Cymru will play its part in ensuring that the Welsh people have a constructive and effective opposition to represent them.

“Moving Forward: Renewing Plaid for Wales is now well under way and it is expected that the bulk of the work will be completed and then implemented from the beginning of the new year.”
