Transparency essential to establish public confidence
Plaid Cymru has called on the Labour Welsh Government to publish all official documents regarding AWEMA – including correspondence and official papers.
Following continued revelations that Labour ministers failed to address allegations of malpractice at AWEMA, Plaid Cymru AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas said that full disclosure is essential in order to ensure public confidence that the affair is being fully addressed.
Plaid Cymru AM for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr, Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM said:
“The Welsh Government is now under investigation by the Audit office over the way it has handled the AWEMA affair. Yet day after day further revelations are coming out about the warnings minister have received and the lack of action that has resulted from those warnings.
“It is time for the Welsh Government to finally open up and publish all documentation relating to AWEMA. By doing so, they could put to rest any talk of cover-ups. Full transparency now will not only give confidence that this is being dealt with fully, it will in time help bring the whole affair to a close.
“I’ve already requested all documentation from the Welsh government regarding AWEMA. I hope that they will now bring this whole affair out of the shadows by allowing full disclosure and being open and honest with the people of Wales.”
