Plaid Cymru responds to Peacocks announcement
22/02/2012
Plaid Cymru Economy spokesperson, Alun Ffred Jones AM, has today welcomed news that a deal, including the retention of the Cardiff Head Office, has been reached to save Peacocks. However Mr Jones expressed sympathy for the workers whose jobs had not been saved.
Plaid Cymru Economy Spokesperson, Alun ffred Jones AM, said:
"The news that a deal has been reached on Peacocks is very welcome indeed. It is hugely important for the Welsh Economy that the head office is situated in Wales and it has been confirmed today that that will be the case. Many people will be relieved to hear that their jobs have been saved, however my sympathies go to those workers who have lost their jobs.
"Plaid Cymru now wants to see a full and open inquiry into the role that was played by a publicly owned bank that led to major job losses at Peacocks."
